Local Shelter Project

Carol Childs runs a no-kill facility called The National Humane Cat and Kitten Adoption Center located at 4039 Gunn Hwy in Tampa for over 20 years. The center was in need of some functional storage equipment and a facelift to make the center more appealing and modern looking.

Carol goes out into our own community and cleans up hoarder situations. She organizes volunteers, cleans out the homes, takes the abused and ignored cats to a vet for treatment and then cares for them at the center until they are adopted.

She also volunteers, often leading volunteers, in storm and hurricane situations throughout the south. Her tireless efforts are often unheralded yet she is passionate and willing to do what most of us either will not or cannot do. She is fulfilled by rescuing the cats and kittens uncared for. I am blessed to know her just as all the animals she rescues are.

With the help of my dear friends, Wayne & Zack, we painted murals in each room, purchased cat pan litter mats, food & water mats, bedding, curtains, window seats, and some decor. Everything that was purchased was done so with donations from loving people I know who responded to ask for financial assistance.

Carol said that the shelter looks so much better and that the volunteers who loyally show up every week to clean and feed the cats & kittens are overjoyed at how fun and inviting everything looks. Carol also said the entire vibration of the center is raised and that the volunteers are excited to do more and participate in bigger ways.

A little love and sweat goes a long way. Please join me & find a way to help someone this year that deserves a leg up. Any effort you make on their behalf will create a feeling of great reward in your heart. 💜

Here are some photos of the 4 rooms where the cats & kittens live until adopted.
